"Two incidents of Nirupam`s posters being blackened by unidentified miscreants have been reported in Borivali. The posters related to greetings offered to the citizens by Nirupam on the occasion of Diwali," said Additional Police Commissioner (North) Ramrao Pawar. In suburban Charkop, a poster carrying pictures of Uddhav and his son Aditya, who heads the Sena`s youth wing, were blackened by miscreants, police said.
Police suspect that rival political party workers have committed the mischief following the war of words between the Sena leader and the Congress Lok Sabha MP from Mumbai North, who was once a member of the saffron outfit. Some persons have been detained, police said. Uddhav had taken strong objection to Nirupam`s statement in Nagpur a few days ago that North Indian migrants, who work in large numbers in service sector, can bring Mumbai to a halt if they so choose. The statement was seen as an attack on Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) over their agitation against the North Indian migrants. Responding to the Congress MP`s remark, Uddhav warned of dire consequences if he dared to bring the city to a halt. Congress has distanced itself from Nirupam`s remark, terming it as his "personal view".
