Chairperson of the high-level expert committee set up to formulate a comprehensive review of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Baijayant Jay Panda, on Monday reiterated the importance of giving more impetus to NCC cadets towards nation building.

Panda said that NCC which is the world's largest uniformed youth organisation needs reformation to make it more relevant in the changing times.

Speaking to reporters after reviewing facilities at the 12 Battalion of NCC in Dhenkanal on Monday, Panda once again stressed on the government's plan for formulating an improved curriculum with better skill training not only to enhance the recruitment of NCC cadets in their allied fields like Army and Police but also equip them to take up roles in various other sectors and spheres of life.

The former Parliamentarian took a review as NCC cadets showcased their skills in firing, weaponry handling and war strategies at the cantonment.

Later he engaged in a discussion with the cadets and enquired about the issues faced by them in day-to-day training. The BJP's National Vice President also held discussions with officers of the battalion over the various aspects on how to inculcate more cadets into the NCC fold.
