Former Kendrapara MP, Baijayant Panda has been appointed as the chairperson of a high-level expert committee constituted by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for a comprehensive review of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

The Committee will suggest measures to empower NCC cadets so that they contribute more effectively towards nation building. Similarly, the Committee is also expected to propose ways for gainful engagement of NCC alumni for betterment of the organisation. The high-level committee will also recommend best practices of similar international youth organisations for inclusion in NCC curriculum.

The members of the Committee include Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former Indian cricket team captain, Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, Col. (Retd) Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Member of Parliament and Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Member of Parliament.

It is pertinent to mention here that the NCC is the largest uniformed organisation which aims at developing character, discipline, a secular outlook and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens. It also aims to create a pool of organised, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life.
