Fine amount for traffic violations hiked; check revised rates from Rs 1500 to Rs 25000

As per a post shared by ACP Ashish Kumar on his ‘X’ handle, drunken driving will invite Rs 10,000 penalty and/or six month imprisonment. Check below all other revised rates. Traffic violators will have to pay a hefty amount ranging from Rs 1,500 to Rs 25,000, apart from imprisonment.

As per a post shared by ACP Ashish Kumar, Delhi, on his ‘X’ handle, drunken driving will invite Rs 10,000 penalty and/or six month imprisonment; Rs 15,000 fine will be imposed and/or two-year imprisonment in case of repeated violations. This has been raised from earlier fine of Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500.

Revised fine amount in details:

Riding a vehicle (two-wheeler) without helmet is likely to invite a penalty of Rs 1,000 along with scrapping of the driving license (DL) for three months. Previously, the fine amount for riding without helmet was Rs 100.

Penalty for driving without fastening the seat belts has been increased to Rs 1,000 from Rs 100. Fine for using mobile phone while driving has been raised to Rs 5,000 from Rs 500.

Driving a vehicle without carrying a valid DL would now invite an escalated fine of Rs 5,000. Earlier, the fine amount was Rs 500.

 

 

Besides, the fine for triple riding on a two-wheeler has been raised from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000.

Any person driving a vehicle without a valid insurance will have to pay a penalty of Rs 2,000 and/or be sentenced to at least three months in prison or community service. However, the fine amount for repeated violation of this norm is Rs 4,000.

Fine for driving without a valid Pollution Certificate is Rs 10,000 and/or sentence of up to six months imprisonment or community service.

Dangerous driving would invite a penalty of Rs 5,000. Similarly, not making way for the emergency vehicles (such as ambulance etc) would invite a fine of Rs 10,000.
