A day after the Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), Swati Maliwal, leveled allegations of sexual assault against her father; her old tweets on being proud of an Air Force Officer’s daughter have now gone viral.
“She was proud of being his daughter. Today, she is calling him a sexual abuser. If hypocrisy had a face,” said social media users as they brutally trolled the DCW chief.
Speaking at the DCW annual International Women’s Day awards function at the India Habitat Centre, Swati said, “I was sexually assaulted by my father when I was a child. My father used to beat me up. So I used to hide under the bed to save myself. My father would grab my hair and slam my head against the wall.”
“While hiding under the bed, I used to think how I will teach a lesson to such men who abuse women and children, and how I can help women get their rights,” Maliwal added.
However, social media users dug up her old tweets and exposed her hypocrisy.
In a tweet, Maliwal had written, “Salute the courage and competence of Indian Air Force. So, so proud of being an Air Force Officer’s daughter. Jai Hind!”
In another tweet, Maliwal had written, “I’m a soldier’s daughter. I have learnt to work for the country and can give my life for the country. No force in the world can ever threaten/deter me.”
Meanwhile, Maliwal’s ex-husband shared a cryptic tweet and wrote, “The name of the film should have been ‘Tu Maha Jhuthi Main Maha Makkar when a man becomes deceitful and dead, then he attacks only the dead. Can’t speak on misdeeds. Men don’t become bad by speaking on dead people.”
In another tweet, he wrote, “I pray with folded hands to journalist friends, media and social media friends that I do not want to get into the gutter, there is a lot of dirt in the gutter, so friends, keep me away from this mud/dirt. I have a lot of work to do. No journalist friend should call to question.”
