Even as Odisha continues to grapple with flood situation, the Regional weather forecast centre of the India Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar on Saturday predicted that light to moderate rainfall is expected in some parts of the State today under the impact of a cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal.

“The cyclonic circulation now lies over east-central and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal extending upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is very likely to move west north-westwards and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-WestBengal coasts during the next 12 hours,” informed the Met Centre in a tweet.

As a result, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha. The Met Centre has also issued yellow warning with heavy rainfall forecast for Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts today.

Similarly, yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been sounded in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Malkangiri and Koraput on September 19.
