Amidst nationwide outrage over the chilling suicide of engineer Atul Subhash, a Bengaluru Police head constable died by suicide by jumping before a train allegedly due to torture by his wife and in-laws. The cop has been identified as HC Thippanna, 34, head constable at Bengaluru’s Hulimavu Traffic Police Station.

Hailing from Handiganuru village near vijayapura district’s Sindhagi town, Thippanna lived in Bengaluru along with his family.

As per reports, he was found dead on the railway tracks between Heelalige Railway Station and Carmelaram Husaguru Railway Gate in Silicon Valley. His death has once again sparked outrage on social media with netizens demanding laws for the protection of men too.

During the probe, police recovered a suicide note that blamed his wife and father-in-law for his decision to end his life. The cop stated that he was forced to take the extreme step due to torture by his wife and father-in-law who he accused of giving him life threats.

“On December 12, he called me at 7:26pm, spoke for 14 minutes, and threatened me. He asked me to die saying that ‘his daughter would be better off without me’. He also abused me,” the suicide note read.

The police have registered a case under Sections 108, 351(3), and 352 of the BNS, officials stated.

Earlier this week, Atul Subhash, an engineer at an automobile company in Bengaluru, died by suicide at his residence due to alleged harassment and torture by his wife and in-laws. He left behind a 24-page suicide note.

He also sent an email to President Droupadi Murmu and the Supreme Court of India urging them to take some steps to rescue men and husbands who are victims of harassment by their wives and in-laws.
