Atul Subhash suicide: Wife Nikita Singhania, her brother Anurag arrested by Bengaluru Police

Days after Atul Subhash died by suicide, a four-member team of the Bengaluru police early Sunday morning arrested his wife Nikita Singhania and her brother Anurag Singhania from Gurugram and Prayagraj respectively.

Nikita was arrested from Gurugram, Haryana while Anurag was picked up from Prayagraj. The two were then produced before the court and given to judicial custody, informed Shivakumar, DCP White Field Division, Bengaluru (Karnataka).

The two along with their mother were on the run ever since Bengaluru police issued a notice directing them to appear before the investigating officer. Their houses were found locked, and their phones were switched off since Friday.

As per reports, Atul Subhash, aged 34, had met Nikita through a matrimonial site and married her on April 26, 2019. He ended his life in his residence in Bengaluru, leaving behind a 24-page suicide note and a 81-minute video detailing alleged harassment by his wife and in-laws.

He also accused the family court judge of being biased. It is alleged that Nikita demanded Rs 3 crore to drop police cases against Atul, who earned Rs 84,000 as monthly salary.

Meanwhile, Nikita, her mother Nisha Singhania, brother Anurag and uncle Sushil family have approached the Allahabad High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the abetment of suicide case filed against them. The case is expected to be heard next week, Bar and Bench reported.

On the other hand, a public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court, alleging misuse of dowry and domestic violence laws against men and seeking guidelines to prevent such misuse.
