A woman allegedly killed her two children by pushing them into a well and subsequently made unsuccessful suicide attempt in Raikia of Kandhamal district.
The incident suspected to be a fallout of family dispute took place yesterday. Raikia fire services personnel retrieved the two kids-nine-year-old boy and five-year-old girl today morning. However, the siblings were pronounced dead by doctors at Raikia Community Health Centre (CHC).
According to sources, Bhagyalaxmi Patra had a quarrel with her husband M Rajesh Patra over some unknown issues yesterday. Angry over the quarrel, the woman left the house along with her two children.

After a frantic search, Rajesh today morning located his wife who was in a critical condition after attempting suicide. However, he was shocked to learn that Bhagyalaxmi pushed their two kids into a deep well.
An anxious Rajesh immediately contacted the fire services personnel who rushed to the spot and pulled out the two kids from the well. However, they were declared dead at the Raikia CHC.
While the exact reason behind the quarrel between the couple is not known, the police have launched a probe into the incident.
