The Odisha vigilance officials on Friday raided the property of an engineer at Baghua in Ganjam district on allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The raids were conducted at the property of Bishnu Charan Sahu, who is currently serving as an additional executive engineer in the irrigation department.

 As per the sources, simultaneous raids were carried out at seven places including four locations in Berhampur. The Vijay Nagar residence of the engineer was the epicentre of the raid. The extravagantly constructed bungalow-like house features all luxury amenities.

The vigilance officials have also unearthed a massive amount of cash from the locations as per the sources. Further search was underway by the vigilance officials.

In a related case, the ACSO of Khordha, Bishnu Charan Parida was apprehended by the Vigilance officials while taking a bribe of Rs 50,000. Parida was taking the bribe from a Rice Miller to facilitate his business. Upon further digging into the matter, officials recovered Rs 7.40 lakh in cash and, 250 grams of gold from his residence.
