BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Tuesday made a scathing attack on Odisha Minister of State (Home) and Energy Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged complicity in the sensational Mamita Meher murder case.

Addressing a presser in Delhi, Patra termed the brutal murder of the lady principal Mamita Mehera as ‘unfortunate’ and castigated the initial reluctance of police in registering an FIR (in connection with Mamita’s missing).

"This police audacity is due to the involvement of MoS (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra," charged the feisty spokesperson. "The Minister while attending a programme in the college had once said when I stay at night here, I become young. Such shameless talks are being aired on and still, the Minister has not been sacked,” said Patra.

Only after an FIR was registered, the prime accused Gobinda Sahu was arrested and taken to Titlagarh police barracks.

Within a few minutes of interrogation, surprisingly, a power cut took place and Gobinda Sahu fled the spot, Patra informed. “This is not possible without the complicity of the BJD government and the Energy Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra. The way there was a power cut on the fateful day hints at his complicity,” Patra charged.

The way the young teacher was murdered and her body chopped into pieces and dumped in a pit, the matter should occupy the national narrative, Patra observed.

He further announced that taking cognizance of the matter, a three-member team of the BJP including, Sunita Duggal and Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury will visit Odisha to conduct a review.

The team has been constituted as per the directions of the BJP National President JP Nadda, he informed.. According to Patra, the BJP Central team will submit a report after conducting a review of the case at the earliest.

The BJP National Spokesperson further alleged that the prime accused Gobinda Sahu was running a sex racket in the Mahaling College in Kalahandi district. He was also the administrator of the school where the deceased Mamita was working as the principal and warden of the hostel.

The comments of the concerned Minister and BJD leaders could not be obtained on the allegations of the BJP National Spokesperson.
