Amid the ongoing protests across Odisha over the murder of Mahaling school teacher Mamita Meher, father of the victim today said that he suspects the involvement of more than one person in the death of his daughter.

Suchandra Meher, father of Mamita, also demanded immediate arrest and capital punishment for all those involved in the 'brutal murder' of his daughter.

"All the accused should be arrested and hanged. I need justice for my daughter," he said.

Meher further said that when he went to the Mahaling College to inquire about the whereabouts of his daughter, a complaint was first written by Govind Sahu’s clerk in the college, which he signed without reading it.

Then, when they headed towards the Kegaon Police Station, Govind Sahu rushed to the PS around 10 minutes before them and had some discussion with the Officer-In-charge there.

"I have no idea what he (Sahu) said to the PS in-charge. When my son tried to lodge a missing complaint, the police didn't register our complaint. Instead, they told us to file FIR at Turekela Police Station," alleged Mamita’s father.

He further said that the matter is not being politicised and the focus of everyone should be to get justice for Mamita.

Meanwhile, a 15-member team of the BJP led by Odisha BJP president Samir Mohanty along with party leader and former Odisha DGP Prakash Mishra met the family members of Mamita today.

Later, Mishra also suspected involvement of more people in the crime and termed it as a part of 'larger conspiracy'. He also alleged glaring loopholes in the investigation of the case.
