Rourkela: 3 minors drown to death in Koel river, 1 missing

Four minor boys were swept away in the strong current of Koel river while bathing near the Pump House of Jhirpani in the Steel City of Rourkela on Saturday.

While three were fished out from the river dead, another boy is still missing.

All the boys were residents of Jharkhand and were on a holiday trip to their relatives' in Rourkela.

As per reports, the tragic incident occurred at around 4pm when the four minors went to take bath in the Koel river this afternoon. The strong river current in the wake of rain fall swept all of them away.

Following a call by an eye witness, the Fire department was pressed into action who fished out three bodies from the river.

The search for another minor is still underway by the firefighters.

No comments could be obtained from the authorities regarding the mishap.
