The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered the body of a teacher from railway tracks at Takba Road near City Station in Sambalpur district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Khirod Nath, who had taken retirement as headmaster from Tamperkela High School in June, 2022. He is suspected to have committed suicide after being harassed by his colleagues.
The Police seized a suicide note from the spot apart from his cycle and slippers. In the suicide note, the deceased blamed some of his former colleagues for taking this drastic step.
Following the seizure of the suicide note, the deceased’s family members alleged the role of his colleagues in his death and demanded an investigation into the matter.
In the suicide note, he had held four colleagues responsible for his death. Besides, he had mentioned the reason for his taking to the extreme step. Apart from taking stringent action against the colleagues, Nath had demanded justice for his family, sources revealed.
Khirod’s brother Sudhakar Nath said, “My brother was headmaster of a High School. He took retirement on the same day I got retired. His colleagues might have created problems in clearing his paper works for which my brother took the extreme step. In the suicide note, he had also mentioned the names of colleagues responsible for his death.”
He went on to add: “The names mentioned in the suicide note are Jagdish Sahu and Subal Barik among the four accused. All we want police to launch a probe into it and take action against them.”
The deceased’s relative said, “Nath was a very nice human being. He had not received arrears even after his retirement. Yesterday he was not invited to a meeting held at the school. He might have taken offense and committed suicide.”
