In a major development in the controversy involving actor Babushaan Mohanty and Prakruti Mishra, the latter on Wednesday filed a defamation suit of Rs 5.01 crore against the former's wife and her father.

Sources said actor Babushaan’s wife Trupti Satpathy had assaulted Prakruti in full public view on July 23. The incident has tarnished the image of Prakruti who is a public figure. That’s why she filed the defamation case in Bhubaneswar court. She urged the court to instruct the concerned YouTube authorities to remove all the video clips of the incident available in YouTube. Besides, she has made it clear that she will think of withdrawing the case and compromise it when Trupti and her father Lalit Satpathy will apologize for the mistake they had done.

Prakruti’s lawyer Byomkesh Tripathy said, “As my client did not get justice even after so many days of filing complaints, we filed defamation suit. My client will be happy if Babushaan’s family gets united and begs apology. Had they begged pardon before we moved Orissa High Court, this sort of situation would have been avoided.”

It is learnt that Prakruti was in Mumbai and returned to Odisha a few days after Babushaan apologised to his wife Trupti and his father in-law Lalit Satpathy in a video. In the video, Babushaan had promised not to hurt them and commit such mistakes again in life.

On Tuesday, the actress moved the Orissa High Court alleging police apathy towards her in connection with the FIR she had lodged against actor Babushaan’s wife Trupti Satapathy.

Prakruti had said, “Whatever was done to me be it justice or injustice, Odisha has seen it. I have full faith in court and its judicial system that I will get my share of justice.”
