In a surprising yet condemnable incident, an irate landowner has locked up a post office running on his property under rental as the postal authority failed to pay the monthly rents for the last 8 months.
As per reports, a sub-post office was running in the private property of one Rama Mallick in Mohana area of the district. As per the previous agreement, Mallick was to get the rental price for the office space on monthly basis. However, the post office authorities failed to pay the instalments.
Even after informing the post officials about the derails in payment on multiple occasions, the landowner could not get the rent. At last, he locked up the office space and also warned of keeping it off their limits until he gets the payback.

"It' now over 8 months, I haven't received a single penny as the monthly rent. They delayed the payments whenever I asked for it even after informing the police about the matter. Initially, I had given my property on rent for the post office as they faced issues while planning to shift the office in Adaba from Mohana. I finalised everything verbally and gave them on rent without any documents," alleged Mallick.
However, the postmaster has a different story to narrate. As per the postmaster, Mallick didn't provide the required documents which were necessary for approval of the monthly charges.
"He delayed in providing the required documents necessary for approving the monthly rentals like land valuation certificate, local market rent, etc, the documents which are necessary for the purpose. We have informed our higher authorities and they will take necessary steps for the same," informed the postmaster.
Meanwhile, the customers are suffering a lot as the operations at the post office have come to a halt following the feud with the landlord.
