The Market Building in Bhubaneswar, which remained closed for three days following a scuffle among traders, is all set to reopen from Thursday.

The decision in this regard has been taken after discussion with Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Commissionerate Police following an assurance that all street vendors will be evicted from the market premises.

As per the decision, an enforcement squad of BMC will keep a watch on the street vendors denying their entry into the Market building premises.

Notably, the Market Building was closed following a scuffle between the street vendors and members of the traders’ association on Sunday (July 31) .

Some street vendors forcibly tried to set up stalls in the market area which was opposed by the members of the traders’ association leading to the scuffle.

As per sources, the street vendors were evicted from the Market Building earlier. However, they reached the area again on Sunday and tried to set up their businesses which were opposed by the members.

As per the allegation by the market association, the street vendors are destroying the beauty of the market area and making it crowded.
