Tension erupts at Bhubaneswar Market Building after scuffle among vendors, market shut indefinitely

Tension ran high at the Unit 2 Market Building area in Bhubaneswar on Sunday after a scuffle reportedly broke out between the street vendors and members of the traders' association.

As per initial information, some street vendors forcibly tried to set up stalls in the market area which was opposed by the members of the traders' association. 

The market building traders association members alleged that they were assaulted by the street vendors. 

Upon being informed, officials from the Capital police station rushed to the spot.

As per sources, the street vendors were evicted from the Market Building area last Sunday. However, they reached the area again today and tried to set up their businesses which were opposed by the members.

The market has been closed for an indefinite period following the scuffle.
