Man kills girlfriend, hangs her from a tree

In a bone-chilling incident, a man brutally killed his girlfriend and subsequently hanged her body from a tree to show it as a case of suicide. The heinous incident has been reported from Sikerguda village under Bhawanipatna Sadar police limits in Kalahandi district.

The deceased has been identified as Deepa Majhi, daughter of Rupa Majhi. The accused has been identified as Sana Majhi of neighbour Gudang village.

According to sources, Deepa had gone to take bath in a pond nearby the village last Wednesday. Since then, she had gone missing. Family members launched a frantic search for her, but in vain.

After five days, locals spotted her body hanging from a tree in a forest near the village. However, the body was completely decomposed.

Locals suspected the role of Deepa’s boyfriend Sana and alerted the cops who reached the village and seized the body. Sana was also detained who later confessed to killing the girl during interrogation, police sources said.

“She had gone for work. After returning, she said she was going to take bath in a pond close to the village, but did not return back home. We searched for her everywhere. Today, her body was found hanging from a tree. We suspect my girl’s boyfriend Sana Majhi of killing her and hanging her from the tree,” alleged Rupa Majhi, father of the deceased girl.

“We were searching for her from village to village. Who knew he had killed her and hanged her in the forest? We suspect Sana Majhi of killing our girl,” a relative said.
