Santosh Dalabehera, a desk officer at the Lok Seva Bhawan (Culture department) in Bhubaneswar is reportedly missing for the last one month.

Though a formal complaint has been lodged in connection with Dalabehera's disappearance, police are yet to find his whereabouts. As per reports, Dalabehera had last spoken to his wife Manjulata Naik over phone on June 26, 2021.

Significantly, the concerned department officials intimated Dalabehera's absence from the office to his family on June 29. Thereafter, Manujalata went to the official quarters and found her husband missing from home even though his clothes were drying outside.

Manulata subsequently lodged a complaint at the Saheed Nagar police station regarding the mysterious disappearance of her husband. She has alleged that her husband was being harassed by superior officers for which he might have left for some unknown place.

“I spoke to my husband on June 26. He was depressed for the last two months over work related pressure. My husband had told me that he had been made to do extra work and was repeatedly humiliated by his superior officer. We have failed to contact him over phone thereafter,” alleged Manjulata.

According to Manjulata, her husband had not revealed the name of the harassing official, but he had said that a woman officer always used to harass him over work related issues. “My husband did not have enmity with anyone. We cannot think of reason behind his disappearance. We suspect he could have been kidnapped or left on his own to escape the work pressure,” she added.

Unable to get any assistance from police, Manjulata has now appealed Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and 5T Secretary to help in tracing her husband.

One of Dalabehera's colleagues said, “Santosh was working in another department. But whenever met, Santosh would narrate the pressure he was undergoing on account of extra work and the humiliation he faced.”

Meanwhile, senior officials of Lok Seva Bhawan could not be contacted for reaction over the allegations.
