Lodge FIR against OTV reporter: BEO to Parjang school headmaster

Directions have been issued to lodge an FIR against OTV’s Kamakhyanagar reporter for airing a report on the poor education system at JayapurAkateni government Upper Primary school at Parajang block of Dhenkanal district.

In a letter, the concerned Block Education Officer (BEO) has directed the headmaster of the school to advice the school managing committee chairman to lodge an FIR against the reporter.

It is pertinent to mention here that the OTV reporter had visited the school after receiving allegations from guardians that the education system in the school was totally in a shamble. As per the norms, reactions of students, guardians and teachers were collected and a clarification of the District Education Officer (DEO) Nibedita Pani was also sought, and then OTV aired the report on July 5, 2022.

The concerned DEO had then said, “I have asked BEO to depute a special officer to watch whether the teachers are doing their lesson plans and giving personal attention to students or not. Similarly, directions have also been issued to watch whether things have been done as per the learning recovery plan,” Pani had said.

It may be recalled that School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash had directed to withhold the salary of a headmistress of Mahaveer Nodal School at Mathasahi in Balasore after class-3 students of the school failed to recite the multiplication table of 3 in front of him on June 25, 2022.
