After much hue and cry, the Odisha government is expected to extend the deadline for affixation of high security registration plate (HSRP) in vehicles today. The State government is likely to extend the deadline by one month.

As per reports, the State government has given a proposal before Orissa High Court to extend the deadline of slot booking for HSRP by a month.

A notification in this regard is likely to be issued by the Odisha government today, September 30.

The State government has also proposed to include post offices and public welfare offices for slot booking. The next date of hearing has been scheduled for October 23.

The High Court on Wednesday questioned the Odisha government on fixing of deadline without having proper infrastructure.

The counsel on behalf of the State government sought two days time to inform if the deadline of affixation of HSRP can be extended.

The HC then suggested to defer the HSRP affixation deadline by a month or two, get all infrastructure in place and then enforce it. "Otherwise you end up with too many cases in your hand," the court added.
