As per the latest notification issued by the State Transport Authority (STA), the timeline for affixing HSRP has been extended by one month.
The rule pertaining to fitment of high security registration plate (HSRP) in vehicles came under judicial scrutiny.
The Orissa High Court has asked the State transport department to inform if the deadline of affixation of HSRP can be extended.
As per the latest notification issued by Transport Commissioner-cum-chairman State Transport Authority (STA), the vehicle owners who have applied for HSRP online before the timeline will be exempted from enforcement checking.
The Odisha government had earlier extended the last date for affixing High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) from August 31 to September 30, 2022 in view of the flood situation in the state.
Several vehicle owners took to Twitter to raise their grievances as they could not complete the process online owing to mismatch of data related to vehicles
Moreover, the last date for vehicle number ending with 5 and 6 last number is 31st October, 7 and 8 is 30th November and 9 and 0 is 31st December.
Though there will be no penal action till December 2022, the enforcement agencies will impose penalties from January 2023. Already timelines for affixing HSRP has been issued by the State Transport Authority (STA).

The Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) has come up with a timeline for fixing the high security registration plates.
In case the vehicle is not affixed with HSRP within the scheduled date, e-challan shall be issued against the offending vehicle and attract fine of Rs. 5000 or Rs 10.000 under Section 192 of M.V. Act. 1988 as the case may be.
