The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) working President Pradeep Majhi on Tuesday leveled serious allegation against Malkangiri Collector Y Vijay, accusing the latter of taking Rs 1 crore bribe for passing tender.

Addressing a press conference, the senior Congress leader alleged, "The Collector took Rs 1 crore bribe and a luxury SUV to allocate seven stone mines to a particular mine owner."

"Moreover, the Collector had also kept the two tender boxes at his residence for three days after those were sealed. Later, the tender applications were tampered with. The mine owner was given Rs 1 crore solvency, while the MGQ of the allocated seven stone mines is Rs 2.38 crore," Majhi alleged further.

Majhi said the luxury SUV which is worth Rs 19 lakh has been purchased in the name of a woman and the Collector used it a day after the lease was passed, Majhi alleged.

Meanwhile, the Malkangiri Collector has said the allegations leveled by the Congress leader are baseless.

"The tender has been done as per the procedure. I took the tender boxes home because of security concerns at office. I hired a vehicle after my car broke down," he said.
