The Odisha Transport Department on Saturday revised bus fare owing to the continuous rise in fuel prices. The bus fare has been hiked for all five categories of bus services.

As per the notification issued by the Transport Department, the bus fare for ordinary service category has been hiked by three paise to 92 paisa/km from the existing 89 paisa/km. Passengers will now pay fare at 96 paisa/km for the express bus service. The existing fare for the express category was 93 paisa/km.

The bus fare for Deluxe and A.C Deluxe bus services has also been increased by 6 paisa/km. Passengers will now have to pay fare at 135 paisa/km for Deluxe and 163 paisa/km for the A.C Deluxe category of buses. The fare for the super-premium service has been increased by 9 paisa to 253 paisa/km from the existing 244 paisa/km.

An order issued by the department read, "The increase in the per litre price of diesel from Rs 97.25 on July 1 to Rs 102.34 as on October 16, 2021, the fare for stage carriers other than town buses plying within the State of Odisha will be fixed at an increased rate."
