Ahead of the crucial Brajarajnagar bypolls, the Director General (DG) of Police on Thursday reviewed the poll preparedness with Director Intelligence and other senior officials through video-conferencing.

The DGP stressed on the free and fair polls and directed officials to make necessary arrangements to make the by-elections incident free. As per official sources, three companies of CAPF, 12 platoons of State OSAP, 25 mobile patrolling parties, 6 flying squads, 10 SST along with district Police Officers have been deployed for smooth conduct of bypolls.

The Brajarajnagar bypolls will be held on May 31. It is pertinent to mention here that police have seized 1150 litres liquors, two illegal arms, registered 138 excise cases and executed 90 pending warrants so far.

Senior officials said that the DGP has also directed to ensure strict enforcement of model code of conduct and adherence to the ECI guidelines. Elaborate arrangements will also be made for security purposes, including visits of VIPs and VVIPs.

Earlier, the schedule for Plus II examinations was rescheduled in view of the Brajarajnagar bye-elections. The exams for Mathematics (Arts/Science), Home Science (Arts) and Basic Foundation Course -Biology (vocational) have been rescheduled. These papers, which were scheduled on May 31, will be now held on June 4, a CHSE notification read.
