Amid the ongoing probe into BJD Zilla Parishad (ZP) member Dharmendra Sahoo's death case, police on Tuesday sent Sahoo's smart watch and the hard disk of CCTV installed at his residence for forensic examination.
Sahoo was reportedly operating the CCTV at his residence through the smartwatch. Besides, it is suspected that Sahoo might have sent messages to soemone thorough the watch before his death.
On the other hand, the BJP today staged protest by blocking Nimapada-Pipili road near Dolabedi chhak and demanded action against BJD leader and State School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash.
The police should probe who used and deleted the videos in the mobile phones of Sahoo before throwing them. All the suspects in the case, including Minister Samir Dash should be brought under the purview of investigation, demanded BJP leader Prabhati Parida.
Police had on Sunday sent the two mobile phones of Sahoo, which they had recovered near the residence of Sahoo in Bhubaneswar during a search operation conducted with the help of dog squad on Saturday, for forensic examination.
What does the mobile phones contain?
Around four hours prior to his death, Sahoo had shared a post on social media in which he mentioned about some video clips being stored in the two mobile phones.
“All the videos are in my two mobile phones. Please bring all those to public limelight,” Sahoo had written in Odia in the post.
Therefore, the findings from the mobile phones created suspicion in the minds of many about the contents of the videos. It is expected that the evidence from the mobile phones may unfold the mystery behind the death of Sahoo.
The BJD leader was found hanging in his residence in Sishupalgarh area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Saturday. He was the member of ZP Zone 11 in Nimapada.
BJD ZP member death case: Minister Samir Dash's response
On Monday, breaking his silence over the Opposition’s allegation of his involvement, Minister Dash said he doesn’t care what they (Opposition parties) are saying at a time when Sahoo’s family hasn’t uttered a word against him so far.
“I am shocked because the incident occurred under my Zilla Parishad zone. But, I am not aware of charges being cooked up against me. While nothing as such has come from his family side as yet, I don’t think it proper to give my comment on the allegations levelled by the Opposition party,” said Dash.
