"How long can we wait as already 11 days have passed to the death of our daughter and there has been no headway in the ongoing police investigation," questioned deceased BJB College student Ruchika Mohanty’s father on Tuesday.

Anger and frustration were quite visible on the faces of deceased Ruchika’s parents, who continue to protest demanding justice for their daughter.

A day after the police evicted the agitators, including Ruchika’s mother, who were protesting in front of the college, parents of the deceased BJB girl on Tuesday staged a protest near lower PMG in Bhubaneswar.

Ruchika, a plus 3 first-year student of History (Hons) at BJB college died by suicide at her college hostel on July 2 due to alleged ragging by seniors.

“Some of the students have told us that the warden and the superintendent of the College are not listening to their grievances and threatening them not to disclose anything. Till these officials are not removed from their posts, an impartial probe cannot be conducted as the students in hostels are in tremendous stress and pressure,” Ruchika’s father added.

Ruchika mother said, “I have no trust in police investigation as they are yet to inform us on the status of the investigation. Those who are responsible for my daughter’s death are still in the college. How can we get justice when those responsible are conducting an inquiry,” questioned deceased Ruchika’s mother.

On Monday, Bhubaneswar Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police said, “We are interrogating everyone associated with the case but yet to trace the three seniors. We have left Ruchika’s mother and other agitators at Lower PMG Square as they cannot protest wherever they want. We took action against the agitators after BJB College principal wrote to us saying college environment getting polluted due to their strike.
