The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday sealed a restaurant’s banquet hall in Acharya Vihar area for organising DJ Dandiya Night without necessary permissions.

As per reports, the organisers had allegedly planned to hold Dandiya Raas Night at 9th Street Banquet Hall, near NICCO Park at Acharya Vihar during Navratri, on October 13 and 14. The entry tickets for the event were sold using various social media platforms.

The tickets were priced at Rs 649 for each and the entry was for one person against each ticket. Senior BMC officials said that today a team of the civic body’s South-East Zone enforcement squad reached the spot after getting information about the proposed Dandiya Raas Night and sealed the Banquet hall.

It is pertinent to mention here that all kinds of social, cultural, religious programmes and functions have been banned in Odisha as per the recently released Covid guidelines by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) for the festive season and the month of October.

Earlier in the day, the State Health authorities stated that carelessness and blatant violation of the curbs enforced by the administration has led to a spike in the Covid-19 infections during the festive period in Bhubaneswar.

Of the total 615 Covid-19 cases reported from different parts of Odisha in the past 24 hours, a maximum of 323 cases were reported from Khordha district alone.
