Even after seven days have passed, the police are still to make a headway in the mysterious disappearance of a woman and her 7-year-old daughter while they were returning to Bhubaneswar via a train from Sambalpur.

The missing mother, daughter are resident of Nuagujatala area in Sambalpur.

According to sources, the woman along with her daughter and husband, identified as one Malay Ranjan Maiti of Jagatsighpur, had visited her parent’s house on October 8.

After staying at in-laws house for few days, Malay returned his home early. A few days later, his wife and daughter left for Bhubaneswar from Sambalpur via a train on October 25. However, they did not reach their destination.

After launching a frantic search, Malay could not trace his wife and daughter. So, he approached Bhubaneswar Government Railway Police Station to lodge a missing FIR, but the police reportedly did not register the complaint.

“My wife and daughter are missing since last seven days, but police are still clueless,” rued Malay.

Later, the family members of the missing woman lodged a complaint with Sambalpur GRP, but police are yet to make any headway into the case.

Meanwhile, police have said call records of the woman are being scrutinised to find out her whereabouts.

“A case has been registered and we are examining the call details and CCTV footages. The matter is still under investigation,” said Khitish Chandra Maiti, officer-in-charge, Sambalpur GRP.
