As many as four persons were killed and two others sustained critical injuries in two separate mishaps at Bhadrak and Ganjam districts in the State on Wednesday.

In Bhadrak, two bike-borne youths were killed and one critically injured after a truck hit their bike from behind on NH 16 near Rahanja Chhak under the Rural police station jurisdiction.

While the deceased have been identified as Kalandi Ojha and Sanjay Panda, the injured is Sibananda Behera. The trio belongs to Bania area in the district.

The injured has been shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, sources said, adding that the driver of the truck along with the vehicle fled the spot after the mishap.

In another incident, two persons were killed and another sustained injuries after getting electrocuted at Sunduriyapada village under Kavisuryanagar in Ganjam district. 

According to sources, the mishap took place when a mason along with his helper was carrying out iron grill installations at a house in the village.

The owner of the house and the mason were electrocuted to death after the grill came in contact with a live wire during the installation process. However, the helper escaped death, but sustained serious injuries in the mishap.
