BJD MLA Pradeep Panigrahi, who had been expelled from the party, has filed a contempt of court petition against the Odisha Lokayuta in the Orissa High Court alleging forgery by the former of a HC order.

According to sources, the Gopalpur MLA filed the petition against Lokayukta chairperson justice Ajit Singh and secretary Manas Ranjan Tripathi in the High Court on Wednesday.

Panigrahi has alleged that the Lokayukta had moved the Supreme Court wherein it submitted a ‘forged’ order copy of the Orissa High Court.

Addressing a press conference, Panigrahi’s counsel Pitambar Acharya said, “Such type for forgery by a judicial body is beyond my comprehension. The Lokayukta has committed a forgery,” he said, adding, “This is a crime and a sin of the highest order. It is also a judicial impropriety of the highest order. We have filed a contempt petition against the Lokayukta today.”

Earlier on June 12, Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi was released from the Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar after he was granted bail by the Orissa High Court in connection with TATA Motors job fraud case registered at the Golanthara police station in Ganjam district.

The expelled BJD leader and former minister had been lodged at the Jharpada jail following his arrest on December 3 last year on charges of forgery, criminal conspiracy and other cyber offences.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the three-time MLA was once a close aide of the BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik. Prior to his arrest, he was expelled from the BJD for alleged 'anti-people' activities.
