Two persons hailing from Ganjam district died in Kerala after the roof of an under-construction building collapsed on them on Wednesday. They were engaged as construction workers.

The deceased have been identified as Sushant Nayak of Ekalpur under Badagada police limits in Ganjam district and Shankar Nayak of Kusan Gadia under the same police limits.

According to a source, the duo had gone to Ernakulam to work. They were working at an under-construction building at Gandhi Square. Like any other day, they were working on Wednesday. All of a sudden, the roof collapsed on them, giving them little time to respond. Both of them got trapped under the debris.

On being informed, fire personnel reached the spot and launched an operation. After rescuing them, they rushed them to a nearby hospital. However, it was too late. The doctors there declared the duo received dead.

A pall of gloom descended on their villages after the news broke.

The family members urged the district administration to help bring the bodies back to their villages so that they can have final glimpses of the deceased and perform their last rites.
