The man behind the hit scripts of Khiladi star Akshaya Kumar’s ‘Rustom’ and Sahid Kapoor’s ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is now in Odisha.
Yes, you have guessed it right. He is Bollywood’s well-known scriptwriter and director Vipul K Rawal.

He is currently in Berhampur not for any film shooting but to get rid of his body fat. It may sound strange, but it is true. There are a number of fitness centres and gyms in Mumbai, but he has chosen Berhampur Physical Academy over them and an Odia youth is mentoring him to achieve his fitness targets.

53 years old, Vipul is the script, screenplay and dialogue writer of Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Rustom’. He has also written the script of Iqbal and won plaudits. Besides those, he is the writer and director of films like ‘Tony’, ‘A New Love Story’ and ‘Bijli’.

One day to his utter dismay, he discovered that he had put on some extra kilos, thanks to the modern lifestyle and busy work schedule.

His weight was 96 kilograms.

Then only he started taking it on a serious note and decided to lose the extra weight he had built. While searching for the best institutions on YouTube, he came across the Physical Academy in Berhampur and its training programme.

Without giving a second thought, he took a flight to Odisha and then travelled to Berhampur.

He has been in the silk city for two weeks now and sweating in the field. So far, he has lost over six kilograms. On his first day, running for even a few meters was a difficult task for him. But now, he is running eight kilometres with ease!

And now, he is all praise for his trainer Seemanchal Barik.

“I have been here for about 20 days and during the period, I have already reduced my weight by six kilograms. For this, I am thankful to Barik Sir. On my first day, he had promised me to make me fit and he has proved it,” said an elated Vipul.

On why he chose Seemanchal Barik as his trainer, Vipul said, “There are a number of gymnasiums in Mumbai. I tried them, even had hired a personal trainer, but nothing worked. Then I started surfing the internet. My sole aim was to have a physically fit body instead of a Bollywood type. When I saw the videos of Barik Sir’s Berhampur Physical Academy, I understood it was the perfect place for me.”

Meanwhile, Barik said it is Vipul’s willpower that worked for him. “I was surprised to see the willpower of Vipul Sir. He is devoting his entire effort to achieving his target. His level of willpower and dedication is rarely seen,” said Barik.

Like Vipul, many have reduced their weights at Berhampur Physical Academy. For example, Om Prakash Goud, a 22-year-old B Pharma student, has reduced his weight by 48 kilograms in six months. He was 117 kilograms when he joined. Similarly, a 19-year-old student from Kolkata, Kiran Dixit has lost 22 kilograms in two and a half months.

“What I had seen in videos is actually happening here. In the gym, I had lost two kilograms in three months. But here, I have lost 22 kilograms in two-and-a-half months,” said Dixit.

Semanchal Barik, a former Indian Army Havildar, founded Berhampur Physical Academy after his retirement.
