Land dispute: Berhampur youth injured after cousin fires shots

A youth in Berhampur was grievously injured after his cousin fired multiple gun shots at him at Bhikapada village under Ganjam’s Khallikote Police limits on Thursday.

The injured has been identified as Biren from Bhikapada village.

It is suspected that the accused attacked him over a long pending land dispute in the family.

As per reports, Biren was asleep in his house on Thursday noon when his cousin brother barged into his house and fired four rounds of bullets at him. He fled the spot after the attack.

A grievously injured Biren was then rushed to the Khallikote medical for treatment. However, he was later shifted to MKCG Medical in Berhampur after his health deteriorated.

The Police have launched a man hunt to nab the accused.

It is pertinent to mention here that a quadruple murder had rocked Ganjam district in March with four members of a family allegedly killed near Pitala chhak under Hinjilicut police station.
