Balasore: A fast track court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for committing a double murder in 2009 at a village in Balasore district.
The court also slapped a penalty of Rs 5,000 on the convict Sarat Giri (28) of Jhinkiria under Khaira police limit for killing his mother-in-law and a neighbour.
According to the prosecution, Sarat Giri, who was staying at his in-laws house, had attacked his father-in-law, mother-in-law and a neighbour with a hammer following heated argument over a domestic issue on January one, 2009.
While his mother-in-law Ashoka Nayak and the neighbour Chintamani Nayak died, father-in-law Naba Nayak was injured and survived following treatment.
