Arun Jadhav sexually assaulted the 21-year-old victim at their residence on two occasions on August 15 and September 24 last when her husband was away, while his wife Kusum Jadhav (45) abetted the crime, police sub-inspector Rajesh Waghmare said.
The accused duo was arrested from Chikanagar locality on Sunday after the victim lodged a complaint against them, he said. According to police, the in-laws threatened the young woman of dire consequences if she speaks about the incident.
The arrested accused were booked under sections 376 (punishment for rape), 109 (punishment of abetment if the act abetted is committed in consequence, and where no express provision is made for its punishment), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code, police said.
