The court of District Judge I, Deepak Kumar, who convicted Arvind Raman on January 23, pronounced the quantum of punishment today.
Based on the statement of the victims relative, a case had been lodged against 38-year-old Raman for strangulating his wife Sweta and son Swarn on April 4, 2011 in his residential apartment.
After committing the crime, Raman left the city only to return two days later leaving the bodies locked inside.
On his return here, Raman attempted to commit suicide and the police, which reached the spot on being informed of the incident, found him in a pool of blood with highly decomposed bodies lying in the adjacent room.
In course of interrogation, Raman confessed his crime.
