Thane: A middle-aged man was on Saturday booked on charge of abetting suicide of his teenager daughter at their residence, police said.
Vijay Parad used to abuse and torture his 15-year-old daughter Jyoti on trivial reasons. Unable to bear frequent beatings at the hand of her father, Jyoti set herself on fire at their residence somewhere between July 24 and August 5, police inspector K P Naik said.
On complaint of his wife Nisha (27), police have booked Vijay under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of Indian Penal Code (IPC), Naik said.
The accused who is unemployed has been on run since then and efforts are on to trace him, he added.
