Whenever you stay in a hotel room, you might be tempted to take some of the things home. But then you stop, fearing that if you get caught, you may have to pay a fine or worse, face embarrassment. Well, that’s true but you won’t be fined for everything. There are few things that you are allowed to grab from your hotel room and it won’t be labelled theft.
So next time, when you start packing to leave the hotel, you can walk away with these goodies
Items you can take from a hotel room
All the things that are complimentary, are free for you to snag. These include mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and other bathroom amenities. You can also take along packets of creamer, sugar, coffee and tea in your suitcase. If there are slippers in your room, it’s fine to pack them away for later use, as they will be thrown away after you leave.
The list doesn’t end here. You can also grab the stationery, pens, notepaper, postcards and envelopes as they all are a gift to you from the hotel. Moreover, they carry the hotel’s logo, so if you take them away with you, it would be a kind of free advertisement for the hotel.
Items you cannot take
If you are planning to stuff your bag with towels, iron, hairdryer, and blankets before leaving your room then Stop right there. These items are not free, and you may have to pay a hefty fine for stealing them. Other than this, you must also not take away cable boxes, clock radios, paintings, ashtrays, light bulbs, and TV remote controls!
Bathrobes should also be left behind as hotels launder them for the next guest. There are a few hi-end hotels, though, where a monogrammed robe is given as a gift to guests.
In case you are doubtful whether something is complimentary or not, you must call the front desk to double check.
However, it is worth mentioning that all hotels have different policies regarding the items that guests are allowed to take, so it’s best to check with them first before loading your bags with goodies.
