The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has published the schedule of the skill test, or stenography test, for Stenographer Grade C & D Examination, 2019.

In an 'important notice' issued on Monday, the SSC said, the Skill Test (Stenography Test) for the eligible candidates of Stenographers Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Examination, 2019 will be conducted on October 21 and 22, 2021

"The Commission will provide the computer and keyboard and shorthand notebook for the test, no candidates will be allowed to bring their own keyboard. The printout of the typed text will not be taken after the stenography skill test (transcription)," the notice read.

Candidates for English Transcription (Typing) have been advised to choose English (US) as their Keyboard Layout option while candidates for Hindi Transcription (Typing) are advised to choose Hindi Inscript/ Hindi Krutidev/ Hindi Remington CBI / Hindi Remington GAIL as their Keyboard Layout option.

Similarly, visually handicapped (VH) candidates who will bring their BRAILLE typewriter will be allotted an isolated seat to avoid any disturbance to other candidates. 

"Candidates will bring their own pen/pencil/sharpener/eraser for the test. Compensatory time to eligible candidates will only be permissible during transcription (typing), there will not be any compensatory time during the shorthand dictation," the Commission stated. 

"A demo link for stenography test will also be uploaded on the website of the commission in the candidate’s corner for the benefit of the candidates," it added.
