OSSSC cancels preliminary exam for RI, ARI, Amin, ICDS & SFS posts
In a major development, the Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has cancelled the preliminary examination for RI (Revenue Inspector), ARI (Assistant Revenue Inspector), Amin, ICDS Supervisor, and Statistical Field Surveyor (SFS) posts.
The Commission's decision was officially conveyed to the High Court by Advocate General Pitambar Acharya. Following this, the main examination, which was scheduled to be held between August 1 and September 6, has also been called off.
The Commission has further informed that a fresh notification for re-examination will be issued within 14 days. All candidates who had applied under the 2023 recruitment notification will be eligible to appear again. Importantly, no fresh application will be required, and all earlier applicants will automatically be allowed to take the new prelims.
The cancellation comes in response to legal challenges and allegations of irregularities in the earlier preliminary exam. It was reported that all candidates were declared passed, regardless of merit, leading to accusations of violation of the official recruitment rules.
As per the original notification, only five times the number of vacancies were supposed to qualify for the main examination. However, since the Commission allowed all candidates to appear for the mains, it prompted a legal petition that ultimately led to the cancellation of the entire Combined Recruitment process.
This decision has stirred concern among thousands of aspirants, but also marks a significant moment in ensuring fairness and transparency in large-scale recruitment exams in Odisha.
