In a major relief to scores of candidates, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) on Thursday postponed the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) examination which was scheduled to be held on August 21 (Sunday) 2022.

In its latest notification, OPSC announced for the postponement of the ASO written exam in view of the dislocation caused by the severe flood in Odisha.

“In view of the dislocation caused by the severe flood in state, the ASO written examination is hereby postponed until further order,” the OPSC notification read.

OPSC further said that the rescheduled date and time will be notified shortly.

Earlier, hundreds of job aspirants sought intervention of the Odisha government and OPSC demanding postponement of the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) examination. Several candidates from the flood-hit districts took to Twitter and demanded for rescheduling the examination owing to inundation caused due to the flood situation in the state.

Apart from the flood, many other aspirants had demanded to reschedule the ASO examination citing that the SSC CGL tier-3 examination is scheduled the same day, August 21.  Besides, RRB PO and Railway Group D examinations will also be held on the same date.

The ASO written examination is to be conducted for 796 posts. OPSC had earlier announced that any kind of digital and manual wrist watches will not be allowed inside the examination.
