The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released a recruitment notification to fill up the posts of Assistant Horticulture Officer in Class-II of Group-B Service under Agriculture and Farmer's Empowerment Department.

Altogether 37 Assistant Horticulture Officers will be appointed through the recruitment drive. Eligible candidates can apply for the posts through the proforma application to be made available on the official website of OPSC (http://opsc.gov.in).

The link for registration/re-registration and payment of examination fee will be available on the official website from September 10, 2021. The last date for submission of online registered applications is October 8, 2021 (11.59 pm).

Salary/Remuneration:

The (post of) Assistant Horticulture Officer will draw salary of Rs 9,300-Rs 34,8001- with Grade pay of Rs 4600 (PB-2) or Level 10 of the Pay Matrix Revised, as per ORSP Rules, 2017, with usual Dearness and other Allowances as may be sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time. The posts are temporary and likely to continue.

Educational Qualification: 

A candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Horticulture/Agriculture from any of the recognized Universities or Institutions.

Age: 

A candidate must have attained the age of 21(twenty one) years and must not be above the age of 32 (thirty two) years as on January 1, 2021. 

The upper age limit prescribed above shall be relax-able up to five years for candidates belonging to the categories of Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Women & Ex-servicemen and 10 (Ten) years for candidates belonging to PWD category, whose permanent disability is 40% and more. 

Examination Fee: 

A candidate is required to pay a non-refundable and non-adjustable fee of Rs 500 only. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe of Odisha only and Persons with Disabilities (whose permanent disability is 40% and more) are exempted from payment of this fee. 

Method of Selection: 

The selection of candidates for recruitment to the posts of Assistant Horticulture Officer shall be made on the basis of Written Test and Interview. 

i.    Written Test: - It shall consist of one paper with Objective type MCQ pattern questions. The paper shall be of 200 marks with 200 questions each carrying one mark. The duration of the test shall be of 3 hours. 

ii.    There shall be negative marking for wrong answers. 

iii.    There shall be a deduction of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. 

iv.    Interview shall consist of 25 (twenty five) marks. 

Place Of Examination: 

The written examination for the post of Assistant Horticulture Officers shall be held at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, depending upon the number of candidates applied. The programme of the examination shall be notified well in advance.
