Candidates, who want to be a part of the Department of Post, should brace up now to apply for several positions announced by the department in West Bengal circle as the last date to apply for the same is August 19.

The Department of Post had earlier sought applications from interested and eligible candidates for the positions of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) in the West Bengal circle.

Before you apply for the India Post jobs, go through some of the important details:

Post: Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) which includes Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak positions.

Total Vacancies: 2357

Educational Qualification

Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics, local language and English (having been studied as compulsory or Elective subjects) conducted by any recognised Board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/ Union Territories in India shall be a mandatory educational qualification for all approved categories of Gramin Dak Sevaks.

Compulsory knowledge of Local Language: Candidates should have studied the local language at least up to 10th standard [as compulsory or elective subjects].

Basic Computer Training: The candidates for all approved categories of GDS referred to in (i) above will be required to furnish Basic Computer Training Course Certificate of at least 60 days duration from any Computer Training Institute run by Central Government/State Government /Universities / Boards / Private Institutions Organizations. This requirement of basic computer knowledge certificate shall be relaxable in cases where a candidate has studied computer as a subject in Matriculation or class XII or any other higher educational level and in such cases, a separate certificate will not be insisted upon.

Age Limit for the India Post Recruitment 2021:

Candidates need to be 18 years old to apply for the positions while the maximum age limit is 40 years as on July 20, 2021.

Relaxation in Age Limit: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwD, 13 for PwD + OBC and 15 years for PwD + SC/ST. However there is no relaxation for the economically weaker sections (EWS).

Salary Details:

Branch Post Master (BPM): Rs 12,000- Rs 14,500
Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevak: Rs 10,000- Rs 12,000

Selection Criteria:

Selection will be made as per the automatic generated merit list as per the rules based on the candidates online submitted applications. No weightage for higher educational qualification. Only marks obtained in 10th standard of approved Boards aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals will be the criteria for finalising the selection. 

Fee Payment:

Candidates applying need to pay Rs 100 as application fee. Payment of fee is exempted for all female / trans-woman candidates and PwD candidates.
