Grapes are a highly popular fruit that is loved by almost everyone across the world. While there can be a dispute as to out of red, black, or green grapes which are tastier or healthier, but it is difficult to find someone who does not like these juicy and fleshy fruits.

Apart from the taste, grapes are also packed with lots of nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals and hence is any day the best mid-day snack option over other junk food choices.

Sweet and juicy black grapes

Black grapes are also called Concord grapes. They are mostly dark black or dark purple in colour and are extremely sweet. That is why these grapes are prominently used for making grape syrups, juices, jams, and wines. These types of grapes consist of resveratrol which has anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Resveratrol also is known for reducing heart disease risk. They also have a good amount of antioxidants, fiber, vitamin K, and Vitamin C.

The natural sugar fructose in black grapes is very sweet but does not cause a sudden rise in blood sugar levels. However, that is why black grapes is not the first choice for weight watchers.

Tart white or green grapes

Also known as white grapes, green grapes have a tart flavour and are used for making raisins, juices, and wines. These are also rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and fiber. Similar to black grapes, green grapes also have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties and are rich in flavonoids and potassium.

However, green grapes contain both glucose and fructose and are less sweet than black grapes. Catechin compounds in green grapes promote heart health.

So, which grapes are better?

Both types of grapes are good for health and are highly nutritious. Rather the choice depends on you whether you love the tart flavour or the extremely sweet flavour of green and black grapes respectively. However, for those who are calorie-conscious green grapes are a better option.
