Fresh fruit juices

In India, the summer season especially the months of April and May is very hot. And this is the time when everyone yearns to drink something cool and chilled. From cold drinks, and energy drinks to fresh fruit juices and milkshakes, people try to quench their thirst by drinking different varieties of mocktails, and sherbats.

While now most people know that drinking soda and other flavoured aerated drinks are very bad for health, very few people are aware of the fact that drinking fresh fruit juices are also not very good for health. This might come as a surprise to many because from traditions together we have thought that fresh fruit juices are extremely light on the stomach and are packed with lots of nutrients.

So why must you avoid fresh fruit juices this summer?

Devoid of fiber-content

Since during the making of juice, all the fiber is churned in the mixer and later on strained it lacks the original and main content in the fruit which is the fiber. This fiber in the fruit is very important as it aids digestion and slows down the sugar absorption process.

This leads to sugar spike

Diabetics must indeed include fruits in their daily diet. But drinking fruit juices is not allowed as it can lead to a sudden rise in blood sugar levels. Instead of making you feel cool and satisfied, fresh fruit juice can make you dizzy if the sugar levels skyrocket.

May cause weight gain

Since fruit juices do not contain fiber they leave your stomach feeling empty. So naturally you feel hungry and eat more food adding to your overall calorie intake. Similarly, since fruit juices are high in sugar they also can contribute towards increasing weight.

Lots of nutrients are destroyed

The process of juice-making destroys a lot of essential minerals, antioxidants, and vitamins. Apart from that when the juice is not consumed immediately most of the nutrients in it are destroyed.

This can lead to tooth decay

Due to their high natural sugar content and acidic nature, fruit juices can contribute towards an increase in enamel erosion and tooth decay when consumed in large quantities and very frequently.
