Health condition of as many as 21 patients undergoing treatment at the medicine ward of MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Bermapur allegedly became critical after they were administered with injection on Friday morning.
According to sources, the patients got admitted to the hospital few days back owing to diarrhoea and were undergoing treatment at Unit 1 of Medicine Ward. They were administered three injections each by a nurse under the supervision of a doctor in the morning.
Soon after the injection was administered to them, all of them started shivering severely. In order to control the situation, patients were put on oxygen masks.
According to attendants of those patients, “Some of the patients were supposed to be discharged today. All of them were doing well. They were administered three injections which were not needed. After some time they started trembling."
Meanwhile, doctors refuted the allegations of administering wrong injections saying ‘The patients were given injections according to their disease and symptoms."
Doctors after attending patients revealed that the patients were given routine injections like antibiotics and gastric injections which reacted. Also, injections were given under the guidance of concerned doctor. The attendants were given files of injections.
It is learnt that senior doctors including the Superintendent of the hospital are yet to reach the hospital to take stock of the situation.
