Berhampur: A man on Sunday allegedly assaulted a girl, after dumping her in Surat.
The girl identified as Laxmi originally hailed from Tikia village, Ganjam. As per reports, two years back, she went to Surat where she began living with her brother in the city. There she fell in love with Durga Maharana; a furniture trader.
According to the girl’s family members, Maharana first gave her a word in marriage and then had physical intimacy with her.
Later when she insisted on marriage, he took her to an isolated place and attacked her.
Meanwhile, police have arrested Maharana who was earlier absconding and Laxmi has been hospitalised.
