Lord Lingaraj's Sital Sasthi Jatra cancelled

Devotees will not be able to witness the Sital Sasthi Jatra of Lord Lingaraj in Bhubaneswar as the annual festival was cancelled after no consensus has been reached in a meeting held on Saturday.

The secretary of Brahman Nijog has confirmed that the festival, which celebrates the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. 

Yesterday, the ‘Mangan’ ritual of Lord Lingaraj was cancelled due to non-cooperation between Brahman and Puja Panda nijogs. The nijogs had attributed the cause of their non-coperation to non-fulfilment of various demands related with land issue and face-off between the servitors of Lord Lingaraj and Lord Kapilnath.
